Torrevieja has held a large public switch-on of the Patronal and Christmas 2025 lights on Saturday, 22 November, in Plaza de la Constitución in front of the church of the Immaculate Conception. The moment was marked by the Queen of the Salt, Daniela Daiana Gómez Navarro, her ladies, mayor Eduardo Dolón, deputy mayor Rosario Martínez and lighting councillor Concha Sala pressing the button amid hundreds of onlookers.

The new illuminations, awarded to Iluminaciones Granja and largely installed by a local company, focus on Calle Concepción and neighbouring pedestrian streets, the Plaza de la Constitución with a large LED city-name display and a curtain of LEDs on the church façade lit by six projectors. Five large Christmas trees have been erected, including a ten-metre tree in Plaza de Miguel Hernández costing €7,000, a fifteen-metre tree at the Palacio de los Deportes with an estimated installation cost of €9,000 and a twenty-metre, walk-through tree on the Paseo de Juan Aparicio valued at €17,000.

The overall scheme has cost about €500,000 and is concentrated in the town centre and on the seafront promenade, with more modest displays on major approach roads and roundabouts. Preparations are also under way for the monumental nativity display that will occupy Calle Maldonado in the Plaza de la Constitución; it will open on Saturday, 29 December, after the traditional offering of flowers to La Purísima, Torrevieja’s patron saint.
