A tragic incident unfolded in Elche on Monday afternoon when a thirty-two-year-old man, believed to be of Moroccan nationality, was fatally stabbed in the Plaza Primero de Mayo. Witnesses reported that the attack occurred near six o’clock when an assailant approached the victim and struck him multiple times with a knife, apparently without uttering a word. The severity of the injuries, including a stab to the neck and another to the leg, left the victim in critical condition.

Emergency services responded swiftly, as a medical ambulance from the SAMU was nearby attending another emergency just two hundred meters away. Medical personnel were able to stabilise the victim before transporting him to the Hospital General de Elche. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save him, the man succumbed to his injuries in the operating room a couple of hours later.

The attack has sparked concern in the local community, particularly as it occurred in an area where the Local Police had recently established a new station aimed at enhancing public safety. Both Local and National Police forces are currently conducting searches in the area to apprehend the assailant and gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Furthermore, the local authorities are also examining another unrelated death reported earlier that day. This incident has left the community shaken, as police continue their investigations and search for answers regarding these troubling events.
