A sixty-five-year-old woman tragically died while swimming in La Manga del Mar Menor, in the municipality of San Javier. The incident occurred on the twenty-ninth of June, when emergency services received a call at five thirty-five PM regarding an unconscious woman being pulled from the water at kilometre point ten.
Responding swiftly, a Mobile Emergency Unit from the Emergency and Health Management Service arrived on-site. Rescuers stationed nearby began immediate resuscitation efforts.
Despite these attempts, the attending physician from the emergency unit confirmed that the woman had passed away. The circumstances surrounding her swimming incident are not currently known.
This incident serves as a somber reminder of the need for vigilance in water safety, particularly during peak swimming season. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased.
