The National Police have apprehended a forty-two-year-old foreign national in Orihuela Costa, accused of drug trafficking. The suspect allegedly dispatched marijuana packages to various destinations across Europe using multiple courier services operating from Alicante.

The investigation, led by the Drugs Unit of the Alicante Provincial Judicial Police Brigade, began after authorities detected a criminal organisation from Eastern Europe engaged in the systematic shipment of marijuana from Alicante to other European countries. In late April, police seized two packages containing a total of nineteen kilograms of marijuana buds at a messaging company.

Further inquiries uncovered that the suspect was using false personal information and had made sixteen similar shipments within a two-month period. This prompted a thorough surveillance protocol to identify the suspect and locate his residence.

The investigation culminated in a search of the suspect’s home in Guardamar del Segura, resulting in the seizure of various items including marijuana, hashish, cash, mobile phones, electronic devices, and a firearm. Although the suspect was not present during the raid, police tracked him down and arrested him in Orihuela Costa. He has been charged with drug trafficking and remains in custody pending legal proceedings.
