The Region of Murcia’s hotels have achieved record numbers from January to May in twenty twenty-five, with figures indicating significant growth in both domestic and international travel. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, the total number of visitors reached five hundred sixty-seven thousand and fifty-five, marking a three point four percent increase compared to the previous year, outpacing the national average of just point one percent.

The growth was primarily driven by national visitors, which numbered four hundred forty-four thousand three hundred twenty-three, rising by two point seven percent. In contrast, international travellers amounted to one hundred twenty-two thousand seven hundred thirty-two, showing a six percent increase. These figures also translated into record overnight stays, totalling one million two hundred ninety-two thousand three hundred fifty, an increase of four point six percent from the previous year.

May twenty twenty-five was a standout month, with hotel occupancy reaching an all-time high of one hundred forty thousand two hundred seven travellers. This is three point five percent higher than in May of the previous year. The month also recorded three hundred forty-four thousand two hundred forty-one overnight stays, representing a four point eight percent increase from the same month last year.

Additionally, the hotel sector’s profitability indicators reflected positive outcomes. The average daily rate per occupied room was sixty-eight euros and forty-three cents, climbing one point eight percent year on year. The revenue per available room stood at forty-three euros and five cents, marking a nine point one percent increase compared to May of last year.
