The Town Hall of Torrevieja has awarded a contract for the cleaning and maintenance of beach toilets, amounting to nine hundred and forty-seven thousand two hundred eighty-six euros, including VAT. The contract spans four years with an additional option for extension and is assigned to Recreativos Acuáticos Horada, ensuring annual costs of two hundred and thirty-six thousand eight hundred twenty-one euros.

This new arrangement aims to provide a comprehensive service that guarantees the upkeep of fixed wooden toilets and newly installed self-cleaning facilities along the municipality’s beaches. Key areas benefiting from this service include Waldo Calero Square, Arturo Gómez Square, along with several locations at Playa del Cura and La Mata.

Antonio Vidal, the Town Councillor for Beaches, highlighted that the new contract enhances the current service by increasing the number of maintained toilets from nine to twenty-two, extending their availability year-round from nine in the morning to eight in the evening. This significant upgrade aims to ensure a higher quality experience for both residents and visitors.

The contract’s approval was based on the best quality-price ratio, considering both financial offers and technical improvements. Notably, the cleaning frequency will increase to three times a day throughout the year, ensuring a safer and more sanitary environment for beachgoers. “This contract reflects the intensive use reality of our coastline and elevates Torrevieja’s image as a prime tourist destination,” concluded Vidal.
