A total of thirty-two migrants were rescued by a Maritime Rescue vessel off the coast of Alicante this morning. Among those rescued, nine are minors. The Red Cross provided assistance upon their arrival and noted that all are male except for one woman. Thirteen of the migrants required medical attention for injuries, primarily burns.

This morning’s operation is not the first to occur this week along the southern coastline of the Valenciana Community. On Wednesday, twenty sub-Saharan migrants were located adrift, four of whom were minors and three were women. They reported that during their two weeks at sea, five of their companions had tragically perished.

Two days later, on Friday, another seven sub-Saharan male migrants, including two minors, were intercepted near Villajoyosa. Thankfully, they were found in relatively good health. The situation underscores the continuing challenges faced by migrants attempting to cross dangerous waters in search of safety and better opportunities.
