An endangered Balearic shearwater has been rescued after being found on the shore of La Mata beach in Torrevieja. The Local Police Environmental Unit responded after a woman alerted them to the bird’s presence. Officers transferred the shearwater to Torrevieja’s Municipal Shelter, where a volunteer contacted the Wildlife Recovery Centre in Alicante. Three arrested after two migrant boats reach Alicante coast

Two small boats have reached the coast of Alicante in recent days carrying a total of 49 migrants of different nationalities, including ten minors. The National Police have arrested three men accused of facilitating irregular immigration and belonging to a criminal organisation.
