A rapid intervention by Local Police has prevented a workplace accident from becoming far more serious in Orihuela Costa.

Officers were alerted after a worker suffered a deep knife wound to his arm at wrist level, causing heavy blood loss. According to the force, the man attempted to make his own way to the nearest health centre but began to feel faint due to the severity of the bleeding and asked passers-by for help.

A patrol attended the scene, assessed the injury and decided to apply a tourniquet to stop the haemorrhage and prevent further blood loss. Minutes later, a SAMU ambulance arrived and took over his care before transferring him to Torrevieja Hospital.

Orihuela Local Police have highlighted the importance of specialist training in Tactical Medicine and life support, which enables officers to respond to critical situations until medical teams arrive. The force wished the injured worker a speedy recovery and stressed the value of keeping officers prepared for emergencies in public spaces.
