Heredades school in Almoradí will maintain its school meals service next academic year but will not continue providing transport, despite protests from families. Mayor María Gómez said officials from the regional Department of Education have confirmed that transport cannot be maintained due to the significant increase in places created by a new school opening in September.

The new CEIP Nº 4 will join the municipality’s educational offer for the 2026–27 academic year. The project, secured after three decades of efforts, has involved an investment of more than eight million euros. Built on a plot of over 17,000 square metres on Avenida de Algorfa, it will have capacity for more than 700 pupils across 30 classrooms, from Infant to Primary level.

The council has intensified meetings with parents’ associations, teaching staff and regional education officials to coordinate the opening. An open day is being planned so families and teachers can visit the new facilities, possibly before the admissions process begins.

The mayor has described the talks as positive and held in a spirit of calm and constructive dialogue. She said the council wants to reassure families and thanked both parents’ associations and teachers for their cooperation during what she called a decisive moment for education in Almoradí.
