Firefighters have extinguished a blaze that broke out on the third floor of a six-storey residential building in Torrevieja on Friday evening.
The Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium said the alarm was raised at 8.04pm. Flames spread to the balcony of the property, causing thick smoke and prompting the evacuation of all residents in the building.
Although no one was injured, three flats were described as having been completely affected by the fire. Emergency crews included a command unit, two heavy urban pump appliances, an aerial ladder platform and a support van, alongside officers and ten firefighters from stations in Torrevieja and AlmoradÃ.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 10.01pm. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
