Firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a seed company warehouse in the district of Lo Romero, in San Pedro del Pinatar, Murcia.
The 1-1-2 emergency service received several calls at 1.32pm on Thursday reporting smoke coming from a warehouse storing cork trays. The fire prompted a large emergency response.
Crews from the Murcia Region Fire and Rescue Consortium (CEIS) were deployed from stations in San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcázares and Molina de Segura. Firefighters from the Alicante Provincial Consortium, based in Torrevieja, also attended.
Two helicopters from the Directorate-General for Citizen Security and Emergencies were sent at the request of ground crews but were stood down at 2.48pm. Local Police, Civil Guard patrols and municipal emergency personnel remained on site to support the operation.
