The parents’ association at Heredades Primary School in Almoradí has warned that the possible withdrawal of the school bus service for the 2026–2027 academic year could have serious consequences for families and pupils. Around 40 of the school’s 80 pupils rely on the daily service from Almoradí to the village, a round trip of approximately eight kilometres.

Families say many parents are unable to take their children to school due to work commitments or because they do not own a vehicle. Losing the bus would also mean losing access to the school meal service provided via Martínez y Canales school, forcing parents to collect their children at 14:00 instead of 17:00.

The school is a single-form entry centre known for its inclusive approach, supporting pupils with special educational needs, including those with autism and those in a UECO unit. Parents say moving children to larger schools in Almoradí could have an emotional impact and may undermine the close-knit environment they value.

Almoradí Town Hall has stated it has no authority over school transport decisions and is awaiting a final ruling from the Generalitat. Parents have requested an urgent meeting with the mayor and are calling for solutions before the enrolment period begins on 7 May.
