The Valencian Government has invested more than €120 million in measures to strengthen public safety and restore the productive capacity of the region’s farming sector. Agriculture Minister Miguel Barrachina described the programme as an “unprecedented effort” made possible through regional funding to help communities feel more secure in the face of adverse weather events.

The investment includes €46 million for flood control works in both state- and municipally-owned areas. Although these zones fall under the responsibility of the Spanish Government, Barrachina said the Generalitat had stepped in to support local councils and respond to the territory’s real needs.

The plan also covers the recovery of nearly 600 rural roads, backed by €35 million, and €6 million to improve irrigation water systems. In addition, €26.7 million has been allocated for replanting, almost €2 million for affected livestock farms, and €5 million to reactivate agri-food industries.

Barrachina said the measures are being delivered in record time and are designed to achieve two goals: improving public safety and restoring the full productive potential of farmers and livestock breeders, ensuring the long-term viability of the primary sector in the Valencian Community.
