The second phase of the Easter Special Traffic Operation begins at 15:00 this Wednesday across the Region of Murcia. Traffic authorities expect around 455,000 journeys on regional roads before the operation concludes at midnight on Monday 6 April.

Extra control, regulation and surveillance measures will be in place on major routes. The Guardia Civil’s Traffic Division will deploy 232 officers, supported by the Levante Traffic Management Centre and variable message signs on key roads. Fixed and average-speed cameras will operate alongside six mobile radar units, with helicopters and drones available if required.

The Provincial Chief of Traffic, Virginia Jerez, has said the busiest days are expected to be Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, particularly between 10:00 and 14:00, and again from 16:00 to 21:00.

During the first phase of the operation, held between 27 and 29 March, three injury accidents were recorded on interurban roads in the region, resulting in two minor injuries and one serious injury.
