The Guardia Civil has dismantled two cannabis associations in Orihuela Costa as part of an operation targeting suspected drug trafficking. Six people – three men and three women aged between 37 and 66 – were arrested, while five others remain under investigation for alleged offences against public health and membership of a criminal group.

The investigation began in January, led by the ROCA team in Torrevieja, which analysed the activities of cannabis associations operating in the area. Officers concluded that two of the organisations were allegedly operating as drug distribution points under the guise of non-profit entities.

During coordinated searches on 17 March, officers seized 2.1 kg of marijuana, 2.2 kg of hashish, 113 hashish pellets, 1,169 cannabis cigarettes, cannabis-infused sweets and chocolates, CBD products, packaging equipment and around 1,000 euros in cash. Both premises were sealed and closure has been requested through the courts. The detainees have been released pending trial.

Two minors, aged 16 and 17, are also under investigation for allegedly using falsified identity documents to gain entry to one of the clubs. The operation was carried out with support from Orihuela Local Police, which recently closed another premises in La Regia after seizing drugs and cash.
