A 36-year-old man has been arrested after the Civil Guard dismantled a cannabis plantation inside a town-centre property in Santa Pola.
The investigation began in January 2026 after neighbours reported suspicious movements at a house located near schools and a sports centre. Officers detected a strong and constant smell of cannabis coming from the property and observed that the resident was taking clear surveillance and precautionary measures.
After gathering sufficient evidence, officers obtained a warrant to search the home. Inside, they discovered a fully equipped cannabis plantation with plants at different stages of growth, allowing for continuous production. In total, 54 marijuana plants and 27 grams of buds were seized.
The man has been charged with an offence against public health for the cultivation and production of narcotic substances. After appearing before a court, he was released with precautionary measures while legal proceedings continue.
