Torrevieja Council has carried out improvement works at Plaza María Asunción as part of its Municipal Plan for the Maintenance, Renewal and Enhancement of public spaces.

In recent weeks, council teams have worked to improve the square’s overall condition and encourage its use as a space for residents to gather and relax. The project included the planting of five new trees — three olive trees and two jacarandas — to provide more shade, enhance the urban landscape and improve environmental quality.

New benches have been installed to replace older street furniture, and litter bins have also been renewed. A large ficus tree in the square has been pruned, while painting and general maintenance work has been carried out in both the square and the adjoining park to ensure proper upkeep.

The council has also undertaken pruning work on a large ficus tree in Plaza Marina Española, where further improvements are planned. Meanwhile, teams continue to work on the Dique de Levante, preparing the area for its forthcoming reopening as part of the wider regeneration plan.
