The Guardia Civil in the Region of Murcia has seized 202,608 cans of carbonated soft drinks from a distribution warehouse in Los Alcázares as part of an investigation into potentially counterfeit or low-quality products.

Officers from the Fiscal and Borders Unit worked alongside inspectors from the Murcia Health Department. They found that the drinks, covering several well-known brands, did not carry mandatory Spanish labelling or the required European CE mark. All affected stock has been sealed while enquiries continue.

The investigation began after officers in Jaén intercepted 48,401 similar drinks without Spanish labelling and traced their origin to a Murcia-based wholesaler. Further checks led authorities to the warehouse in Los Alcázares.

The warehouse manager has been reported for an alleged infringement under Law 4/1996, the Consumer and User Protection Statute of the Region of Murcia. Officials say the operation was carried out to safeguard public health and food safety.
