The Guardia Civil has arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old man at Rocío de Mar beach in Torrevieja on 1 March.

The victim was discovered on the sand with a head injury by a couple walking in the area. He was taken to Torrevieja University Hospital, where he later died. Medical tests confirmed that the injury had been caused by a gunshot wound.

Officers intercepted the suspect on 17 March in the car park of Murcia International Airport, where he was allegedly preparing to leave Spain. Investigators found suitcases, clothing and his passport in the boot of the vehicle, reinforcing suspicions that he was attempting to flee. He was brought before a court in Murcia and has been remanded in custody.

The investigation was led by the Homicide Unit of the Guardia Civil in Alicante. The case is being handled by Investigative Court Number Two in Torrevieja, which has declared the proceedings confidential. No further details about a possible motive or any link between the men have been released.
