A residents’ association in San Miguel de Salinas has submitted a formal request to the Generalitat Valenciana calling for urgent road safety improvements on the southern access to the town via the CV-941.

The move follows a recent fatal collision in which a local resident died after his agricultural tractor overturned when it was struck from behind by a van. The accident happened close to the junction with Camino de Las Filipinas, an intersection without a roundabout that neighbours describe as a frequent site of serious crashes.

According to the association’s president, Manuel Gómez, more than 5,000 vehicles use the stretch each day, with peak traffic at rush hour. Residents argue that the volume of traffic, combined with the lack of regulated access points, has turned the area into a blackspot. They have proposed immediate measures such as double solid no-overtaking lines, lower speed limits, LED street lighting and illuminated speed warning signs.

In the longer term, the group is demanding the construction of a main roundabout linking Camino de Las Filipinas, the Rebate road and the northern ring road access. The letter also calls for a two-metre hard shoulder, a cycle lane and a pedestrian path. The association has urged the regional authorities to prioritise funding and implementation.
