Torrevieja Council has declared two days of official mourning following the death of a young girl who was allegedly killed by her father. The local authority has expressed its “strongest condemnation” of the incident and its support and solidarity with the child’s family.
The official mourning has been observed on 22 and 23 March. From midnight on 22 March, flags on municipal buildings have been flying at half-mast as a mark of respect and collective grief.
The decree was signed by the mayor in the exercise of his responsibilities for political leadership and municipal administration. The council has also formally conveyed its condolences to the family in an institutional gesture of support.
The resolution will be communicated to the various municipal groups and published on the town hall’s noticeboard and official website, ensuring residents are informed of the declaration of mourning.
