The Community of Murcia and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) are hosting the regional final of the international First Lego League robotics tournament this Saturday at the School of Industrial Engineering in Cartagena.

More than 200 pupils aged between 6 and 16 will take part, divided into 27 teams. Organisers expect around 900 people to attend the event, which will also be supported by around 50 volunteers.

In this fifteenth edition in the Region of Murcia, 15 teams are competing in the ‘Explore’ category for children aged 6 to 9, and 12 teams in the ‘Challenge’ category for those aged 10 to 16. This year’s theme, ‘Unhearted’, invites participants to explore how technology and robotics can be applied to archaeology to help discover, protect and share historical knowledge.

The highest-ranked team will qualify for the national final in Burgos, with the chance to progress to international tournaments organised worldwide. The regional phase is promoted by Fundación Integra Digital and Asociación Ingeniería Soy, and can be followed in person or online via the foundation’s website.
