Torrevieja Council has approved a public contract worth €592,832.75, including VAT, to supply new furniture and equipment for a range of municipal buildings. The decision was taken by the Local Government Board as part of ongoing efforts to modernise public facilities.

The contract is divided into two lots. The first, valued at €505,574.81, covers office furniture for various municipal departments. The second, worth €87,257.94, will provide visual and IT equipment for the new university headquarters in Calle Canónigo Torres.

Facilities set to benefit include the Casa de la Tercera Edad in Calle Pedro Lorca, the Carmen Jalón Municipal Public Library, the Municipal Animal Shelter and several administrative offices. The investment will also equip floors designated for the university headquarters, which are nearing completion.

The council said the upgrade will improve working conditions for staff and enhance services for residents. Once the contract is formally signed, the successful bidder will have a maximum of four months to deliver and install the equipment.
