A 33-year-old Czech man who was on provisional release over his alleged involvement in the murder of a Northern Irish man in Rojales has been shot dead in Torrevieja. The shooting took place in the early hours of 1 March in the Punta Prima area. The Guardia Civil’s Homicide Unit is investigating.

The man had been facing charges of alleged cooperation in the killing of 37-year-old John George, whose body was found in early 2025 in a lemon grove in Rojales. The crime occurred in December 2024 and came to light after the victim’s father reported his disappearance from Northern Ireland on 19 December.

The Czech national was arrested in January 2025 and later released on bail. As precautionary measures, he was required to report to court every 15 days, had his passport confiscated and was banned from leaving Spain.

In March 2025, another Northern Irish man, aged 27, was arrested in Braga, Portugal, as the suspected principal offender. He was later extradited to Spain. The investigation into the murder of John George is continuing under judicial supervision.
