A man has died after a tree branch fell on him while pruning work was being carried out at his home in the Villanueva-El Canute area of Beniaján, Murcia.
Emergency services received a call at around 2pm on Sunday from a neighbour who raised the alarm. The property owner had reportedly hired contractors to prune trees on his land.
For reasons that are still under investigation, one of the branches became detached and fell, striking the man as he was cleaning his plot. The neighbour did not witness the branch falling but found the victim on the ground shortly afterwards.
Paramedics attended the scene but were only able to confirm his death. The National Police have taken over the investigation to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.
