Los Alcázares Town Hall has begun the administrative process to tender construction work on a new cycle lane along the RM-F34, linking the municipality with neighbouring San Javier. The scheme will cover one of the most hazardous sections of the road.

The project includes around 300 metres of segregated lane for bicycles and personal mobility vehicles, complete with lighting and vertical and horizontal signage. The investment totals 217,000 euros and aims to encourage safer and more sustainable travel.

Mayor Mario Pérez Cervera has said he was keen to announce the tender because it addresses “one of the blackspots in the municipality”. He said the new infrastructure would improve safety and help make Los Alcázares a place where people can travel securely and sustainably.

The project forms part of the ‘Sea that Connects’ initiative within the town’s 2025–2027 Tourism Marketing Plan. It has been funded through the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, under the Sustainable Tourism in Destinations programme managed by the council’s European Funds department.
