The long-delayed redevelopment of Torrevieja’s port is expected to open to the public this spring, marking a major change for the town’s traditional waterfront. The concessionaire behind the project has confirmed this as the definitive launch window after earlier forecasts, including Easter, failed to materialise.

The privately funded complex covers more than 20,000m² facing the bay, with 8,500m² dedicated to 27 retail and hospitality units. Managing agents say around 80% of the units are already leased and 100% committed. The focus will be on leisure and dining, with plans for a multiplex cinema and an American-style bowling alley.

Although most construction work has been completed, progress slowed due to delays in surrounding redevelopment works being carried out by Torrevieja City Council. These include improvements to seafront access, a large pedestrian ramp at the main port entrance, LED lighting, large screens and landscaped areas.

The wider regeneration of the area also includes Plaza de Capdepont and upgraded access roads linked to the underground car park that opened last year, easing pressure on town centre parking. Even with some public works ongoing, Paseo del Mar is expected to welcome visitors in the coming weeks.
