A 44-year-old man from Murcia has been remanded in custody after Guardia Civil officers seized 17 kilogrammes of cocaine in San Isidro.

The arrest took place on 11 February as part of a strategic police plan targeting drug use and small-scale trafficking in leisure areas. Details of the operation were released on Monday 23 February. Officers from the Dolores main post noticed a parked vehicle in the town centre with its boot open and a man acting suspiciously.

When approached, the man reportedly gave contradictory answers and failed to explain why he was there, while denying the boot had been open. A search of the vehicle uncovered several plastic-wrapped packages hidden inside a bag. A field test confirmed the white powder inside was cocaine.

Further checks at the Dolores station revealed additional concealed packages. In total, 15 packages weighing around 17 kilogrammes were seized. The vehicle, which belonged to the suspect, was also impounded. After appearing before a judge, the man was ordered to be held in prison pending further proceedings.
