The Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue have intercepted five small boats carrying 109 migrants off the coast of the Region of Murcia over the weekend. According to the Government Delegation, 13 of those on board were minors and all were in apparent good health.
Three of the boats were located on Saturday, two near San Pedro del Pinatar and one off Águilas, with a total of 51 people on board. On Sunday, a further two boats were intercepted: one in Cartagena carrying 15 migrants, including one woman, and another in Águilas with 43 people, among them two women and 13 minors.
All of the migrants, believed to be of Algerian nationality, were assisted by the Red Cross before being transferred to the Temporary Centre for Foreign Nationals in Cartagena. They were then handed over to the National Police for further processing.
