Albatera Town Council has signed a collaboration agreement with the Guardia Civil in Alicante to install a new public assistance office in the municipal building known as 3 de Abril, located in Plaza San Jaime.

The office will operate from Monday to Friday during morning hours, although the exact opening times are due to be confirmed in the coming days. The new facility will allow residents to file complaints without travelling to the Guardia Civil barracks in Dolores, which currently serves the northern Vega Baja area, including Albatera, with a population of nearly 14,000.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Guardia Civil commander Carlos Astrain and the sergeant in charge of the local post, Carlos Barquero. The force thanked the council for its cooperation, saying the new office would prevent unnecessary journeys and improve local access to services.

Mayor Ana Serna said the project had been in development for some time alongside the Local Police. She described the reopening of the service as a step forward in improving both public attention and security in Albatera, offering residents a closer and more accessible service within the town.
