Housing construction in Alicante province closed 2025 at its highest level since 2008, with 11,011 homes started, according to official figures from the College of Technical Architecture of Alicante. That represents a 31.8% increase on 2024 and confirms steady growth throughout the year.

The final quarter was decisive, with 3,119 homes started – the strongest quarterly figure since 2008. Growth accelerated from 11% in the first half of the year to 31.8% by December. COATA president Cristina Bordera said the figures point to continued high levels of activity in early 2026, driven by sustained demand.

Vega Baja recorded the highest volume, with 3,894 homes, or 35.3% of the provincial total, followed by the Marinas with 2,964 and the Alicante area with 2,746. San Joan d’Alacant, Torrevieja and Benidorm were the municipalities with the greatest number of new housing starts.

Construction costs have also continued to rise. The average execution cost reached 597 euros per square metre, up 6.1% year on year. Bordera said future growth will depend on land availability and planning licences, but added that the sector has shown a clear willingness to increase supply.
