Workers employed by Mazarrón’s municipal street cleaning and refuse collection service have suspended their intermittent strike after reaching a deal with the local authority on Wednesday. Delegates from ATRM and UGT represent the one hundred and six staff of Bahía de Mazarrón Ingeniería Urbana SA. The pact with the town hall, formed by UIDM and the PSOE, guarantees the subrogation of all workers into a new mixed company to be created.nnThe new firm will be the outcome of a bidding process. The government will put to plenary a triple proposal: to approve the 2024 accounts; to begin the dissolution of the current company after three years of deficit, with a €1.1 million shortfall recorded in 2023; and to establish the new company.nnWorkers have accepted to preserve their seniority and all acquired rights under Article forty-four of the Workers’ Statute; twelve government councillors have signed the guarantee, ensuring institutional backing and a commitment to dialogue and stability in the provision of public services.
