The town hall of San Pedro del Pinatar has completed improvements to accessibility and road safety on Avenida del Taibilla, a project led by the Urban Planning department. The works renew the section between Río Tajo Street and Avenida de los Antolinos in a residential area situated between two educational centres.

With an investment of around two hundred thousand euros, the scheme has widened pavements, relocated public lighting and urban furniture, reduced the height of medians, and improved the road surface and signage, creating a safer, more accessible environment for pedestrians and drivers.

Mayor Pedro Javier Sánchez has recently visited the area, accompanied by Urban Planning councillor Valentín Henarejos, the pedáneo mayor of Los Antolinos, Miguel Ángel Martínez, and representatives from the technical department and the contracting firm. He has said the project responds to the council’s commitment to accessibility and to improving public space, moving towards a more orderly, friendly and sustainable municipality.

He has added that this model will be developed across all neighbourhoods and pedanías of the municipality as part of the municipal actions plan to remove architectural barriers and guarantee mobility for all residents, particularly the elderly and people with reduced mobility.
