The Guardia Civil, in collaboration with the Local Police of Almoradí, has detained five suspects, aged between nineteen and thirty-one, for their alleged involvement in a series of violent thefts from vehicles and commercial establishments in the area. The operation was initiated following a rise in theft reports detected on the twenty-eighth of October, prompting an investigation by the Guardia Civil’s Almoradí Investigative Unit.

To tackle the escalating crime, investigators implemented a specific surveillance operation designed to identify and apprehend those responsible, with crucial support from the Local Police. During one patrol, plainclothes officers caught two suspects in the act of breaking into a parked vehicle, leading to immediate arrests. Following these initial detentions, further inquiries unveiled additional details that resulted in the recovery of stolen cash, winning tickets from the ONCE ‘Rasca y Gana’ lottery, and other stolen items, some of which have been returned to their rightful owners.

The investigation indicated that the suspects acted in a coordinated manner, dividing their roles within the group. Law enforcement linked the detainees to several robberies committed against local businesses, during which violent and intimidating tactics were employed against shop owners. Consequently, the five individuals face charges for robbery with violence and intimidation, robbery with force, belonging to a criminal group, and receiving stolen property. Notably, these individuals have prior convictions for similar offences.

Following the judicial process, the five suspects were presented before the Court of Instruction Number Two in Orihuela, where they were released under precautionary measures. This operation underscores the Guardia Civil’s commitment to combating property crimes, highlighting the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between police bodies and the vital role of community collaboration in detecting criminal activities.
