On the night of October eighteenth, an alarming incident occurred on the AP-seven motorway in Alicante, where a seventy-six-year-old British man drove seventeen kilometres against oncoming traffic. This dangerous act prompted immediate responses from the Guardia Civil after multiple motorists alerted emergency services regarding the threat. The vehicle was detected by traffic cameras as patrols from Torrevieja and Orihuela rushed to intercept it.

Despite repeated attempts to stop the driver with flashing lights, sirens, and loudspeakers, he continued in the left lane, endangering others and forcing several vehicles to swerve to avoid potentially fatal head-on collisions. The chaotic situation came to an end when the vehicle exited at junction seven hundred thirty-seven and was finally stopped on the CV-nine hundred and twelve road.

The Guardia Civil has confirmed that the driver is now under investigation for reckless driving under Article three hundred and eighty of the Spanish Penal Code. He faces charges related to the endangerment of other road users’ lives and safety.
