La Guardia Civil has successfully dismantled a cannabis cultivation operation in the municipality of Los Montesinos. Two individuals, a fifty-five-year-old man and a forty-five-year-old woman, have been arrested on suspicion of public health offences, along with additional charges of disobedience and documentary falsification. The suspects were found with over thirteen kilograms of prepared marijuana and two hundred grams of MDMA, also known as ‘crystal’.

The investigation was initiated on the twenty-sixth of August as part of efforts by the Guardia Civil of San Miguel de Salinas to combat drug trafficking and cultivation. During inspections of a residence in Los Montesinos, officers noted signs of an indoor cannabis plantation. Further investigative work led to the establishment of an operational plan on the eleventh of September, resulting in a search of the property.

Upon entering the premises, officers uncovered a sophisticated indoor growing setup complete with ventilation, lighting, and climate control systems. They found twenty-five cannabis plants in the flowering stage, along with various illicit substances; notably, thirteen point two kilograms of marijuana ready for distribution, as well as small quantities of cocaine and an additional two hundred grams of MDMA.

During the operation, over eight thousand euros in cash, a blank-firing weapon, multiple mobile phones, and high-end vehicles were also confiscated. The main suspect was apprehended on-site during the raid, while the woman was arrested days later. Both suspects have been charged and presented before the First Investigating Court of Torrevieja, resulting in provisional imprisonment for the man and conditional release for the woman.
