The Generalitat Valenciana, through the Second Vice-Presidency and the Department for Economic and Social Recovery, has launched a free online course focused on the prevention of natural disasters. This initiative is part of the Endavant Plan and is aimed at all citizens. The course is available from today on the SAPS portal and spans a duration of ten hours, with emphasis on practical content.

Participants will learn about general and specific guidelines related to various types of disasters, including floods, wildfires, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic risks, and adverse weather phenomena. The course also grants access to the Valencian Cartographic Institute’s risk viewer, enabling individuals to assess their home’s flood risk.

Key materials for an emergency kit are outlined in the course, including bottled water, a battery-operated radio, physical maps, whistles, identification documents, non-perishable food, first aid supplies, regular medications, a torch, spare batteries, a knife, and cash. In addition, the course seeks to encourage the use of official information sources and provide updated contact details for relevant organisations, applications, websites, social media, and helplines.

Rafael González, the Director General of the Recovery Plan, noted that this training is critical for recognising risks and enhancing preparedness for natural phenomena. He emphasised the importance of information from official sources, anticipation, resilient infrastructure, and civic education as essential pillars of the Endavant Plan. The course is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, in both Valencian and Spanish, allowing participants to learn at their own pace.
