The search for Marc Tulloch Hewson, a sixty-three-year-old British resident who went missing from Torrevieja on the twentieth of September, has ended in heartbreak. Investigators have recovered his remains in a wooded area located near Lago Jardin. This tragic discovery comes nearly a month after an extensive volunteer search campaign, led by friends and family, was launched in response to his disappearance.

Local reports indicate that the remains were located hidden behind residential properties, prompting an outpouring of sympathy and support from the community. Around twenty-five volunteers came together daily to assist the Guardia Civil in their efforts, demonstrating the strength of the local expat community. Anne Constantine, an important figure in leading the search efforts, shared that Marc’s sister, Fiona, was informed of the tragic news personally.

Friends and community members took to social media to express their sorrow. One friend expressed thanks to everyone who participated in the search, stating, “Sadly his body has been found… not the outcome we hoped for, but the support whilst he was missing was of huge support to his family and friends.” Fiona also conveyed her gratitude to all those who joined in the search, confirming that every possible effort was made.
