The town of Almoradí has announced it will receive six point four million euros from European funds to support crucial infrastructure developments. The funding, part of the Spanish Ministry of Territorial Policy’s Edil Plan, will aid in implementing strategic initiatives aimed at flood prevention, urban sustainability, and supporting local entrepreneurship.

A cornerstone of this funding is the construction of a critical drainage collector in the western area of the municipality, designed to prevent flooding. This project follows the completion of another collector in the east, created as part of the post-DANA plan initiated after severe flooding in two thousand and nineteen. Mayor María Gómez emphasised the importance of this work for community safety, aiming to ensure efficient water evacuation during heavy rainfall.

In addition to flood prevention, the project includes urban improvements such as the creation of pedestrian areas and enhancements to local transport connections, promoting sustainable mobility. Another significant aspect of the initiative is the renovation of the Integrated Employment Centre, transforming it into a Centre for Entrepreneurs that will support the establishment of new businesses in the area.

These efforts are part of broader European cohesion funding aimed at driving transformative projects in municipalities throughout Spain, with a focus on ecological transition, digitalisation, and improved local infrastructure. Mayor Gómez stated that Almoradí is now a key player in the Vega Baja, demonstrating effective planning and resource acquisition that will ultimately improve residents’ quality of life and underpin sustainable local growth.
