In an effort to enhance road safety during the Carthaginians and Romans Festival in Cartagena, three new breathalyser machines have now been installed for public use. Located near the Festero Campground by the Benipila promenade, these machines provide an accessible means for attendees to check their blood alcohol levels for just one euro, offering convenience and peace of mind for festival-goers.

The devices, manufactured by the company AlcoholteSA, function similarly to parking meters. Festival-goers simply insert one euro to receive a clear reading of their blood alcohol concentration. Pedro Lucas Sánchez, AlcoholteSA’s regional representative, highlighted that these machines have been showcased at trade fairs in Córdoba and Málaga, and they come equipped with a worldwide patent.

Sánchez emphasised that while these breathalysers provide a reliable indication of an individual’s fitness to drive, the ultimate decision rests with the user. This initiative aims to foster responsible behaviour among festival attendees, contributing to safer roads after nights of celebration.

The introduction of these machines marks a progressive step in promoting awareness and accountability among party-goers, highlighting both convenience and safety as key features of this innovative addition to the vibrant festival atmosphere.
