The National Police in Spain has successfully dismantled an organised crime group that has been operating in Torrevieja, Alicante, and conducting burglaries in the provinces of Murcia and Albacete. The group employed a sophisticated technique involving the use of invisible thread to mark the doors of targeted homes, enabling them to monitor the occupants’ movements.

The investigation, initiated in June, followed a significant rise in home burglaries during the summer holiday period. Detectives identified a key member of the gang who was responsible for selecting potential targets. Following surveillance, officers observed the gang using complex methods to gain access to homes without causing visible damage or noise.

Authorities executed search warrants in Torrevieja and at a hotel in Alicante, where they recovered numerous stolen items, including jewellery valued at thousands of euros and specialised tools used in their burglaries. Four members of the gang were arrested and charged with at least ten counts of burglary across the regions of Murcia, Alicante, and Albacete.

The judicial authority has ordered the immediate provisional imprisonment of two key figures within the criminal network. The sophistication of their burglary techniques has raised serious concerns, prompting law enforcement to remain vigilant against such organised crime activities.
