A British fugitive, who has been on the run for over three years, has been arrested in Alicante, Spain, after allegedly murdering a man in April twenty twenty-two in the Algarve, Portugal. The suspect reportedly attacked the victim with a kitchen knife, inflicting twenty-four stab wounds in an apartment they shared. The victim attempted to escape through a window but tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

The arrest was carried out by the Guardia Civil with assistance from the UK’s National Crime Agency and Portuguese police authorities. The fugitive had been evading capture while hiding in various locations across the provinces of Málaga and Alicante, benefitting from the presence of numerous British expatriates that made identification challenging.

Reports indicate that the fugitive had support from his family and criminal associates, which further facilitated his ability to remain hidden. His network provided him with temporary accommodations and financial support, making detection increasingly difficult. Despite intense surveillance efforts, he managed to evade police capture on several occasions, including an incident where he allegedly attempted to run over law enforcement agents.

Thanks to collaborative international police efforts, his whereabouts were eventually identified in Alicante. A comprehensive operation led to his capture just as he was planning to leave one temporary residence for another. The apprehension involved multiple units, including the Central Operative Unit and the Judicial Police Unit from Málaga, along with agents from the Guardia Civil in Alicante and other international agencies.
