In August, hotel stays in the Valencian Community grew by one point one percent compared to the same month last year, reaching a total of four million and seventy-eight thousand eight hundred and five. This reflects three consecutive months of growth, according to data from the National Statistics Institute. The number of tourists staying in the region also rose by two point four percent, with one million one hundred and seventy-eight thousand eight hundred and ninety-two visitors recorded in August.

Out of the total number of tourists, six hundred and seventy-four thousand seven hundred and sixteen were residents of Spain, accounting for fifty-seven point twenty-three percent, while five hundred and four thousand one hundred and seventy-six were foreign travellers, making up forty-two point seventy-seven percent. Compared to last year, the number of Spanish travellers increased by zero point nine percent, whereas the number of foreign tourists grew by four point four percent.

Among the total overnight stays, two million one hundred and sixty-six thousand nine hundred and sixty-seven were made by Spanish residents, representing fifty-three point thirteen percent, while one million nine hundred and eleven thousand eight hundred and thirty-eight were by foreign residents, totalling forty-six point eighty-seven percent. The average daily room rate stood at one hundred and forty-six euros and fifty-three cents, reflecting a rise of three point nine percent year-on-year.

Overall, the occupancy rate in the Valencian Community reached seventy-seven point zero nine percent in August, and the hotel sector employed twenty-one thousand seven hundred and fifty-six people, marking a year-on-year increase of zero point eight percent. Notably, the Balearic Islands recorded the highest occupancy rate at eighty-nine point fifty-five percent, followed by the Canary Islands and the Basque Country. In contrast, regions like Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura reported significantly lower occupancy rates.
