A sixty-four-year-old woman has been detained in Benidorm, Alicante, for the alleged murder of a sixty-six-year-old woman. The incident took place in an apartment in the Rincón de Loix area, known for being frequented by British tourists. Authorities were notified by a third visitor from the United Kingdom, who reported that her friend had confessed to killing another woman by strangling her with a vacuum cleaner cord.

Local police first responded to the scene, but the National Police have since taken over the investigation, which remains ongoing. Investigators are working to confirm the specifics of the incident, and at least one witness has reported having seen a verbal argument between the suspect and the victim prior to the alleged crime. The exact motives behind the dispute have yet to be disclosed.

When emergency services arrived, they found the sixty-six-year-old woman already deceased, showing clear signs of asphyxiation. As a result, the authorities were only able to certify her death. Following a judicial order, the body was transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Alicante for an autopsy.
