The Town Hall of Pilar de la Horadada has announced an investment of one million one hundred thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine euros, inclusive of VAT, to improve and condition forty-one children’s play areas throughout the municipality. This initiative will be financed by the Alicante Provincial Council under the ‘Plan Planifica 2024-2027’, with an allocated amount of six hundred and six thousand seven hundred and eighty-five euros. The current adjudication process is at the stage of receiving and opening offers from interested companies. Once awarded, the works will have an execution period of ten months.

Renovations will occur in both the coastal area of Torre de la Horadada and residential areas near the beaches, resulting in the refurbishment of twenty-four parks. Additionally, seventeen parks in the urban centre and surrounding districts will also be improved. The projects will involve reconditioning the flooring to ensure it is safe and impact-absorbing, as well as the potential installation of artificial grass, shading canopies, and perimeter fencing.

Three new play areas for children will be established in the parks named after the thirtieth of July—located in the urban centre near the local riverbed—Antonio Gálvez in Torre de la Horadada, and Mar Egeo/Alelhí, close to Las Higuericas Beach at the southern end of the coastal area. The councillor for infrastructure, Rufino Lancharro, described the project as timely, focusing on upgrading most children’s playgrounds and creating three new unique play zones, including a whale-shaped play structure for the coastal area and a multisensory space themed with flowers and capable of accommodating one hundred users aged up to fourteen at the park on the thirtieth of July.

Specific upgrades include a comprehensive project in the coastal area affecting various streets and parks, while the urban centre will see improvements in several areas, including Avenida de La Venta and numerous local parks. The new whale-themed play structure at the Mar Egeo/Alelhí park will cater for up to thirty children simultaneously, offering sensory and physical activities, and will include recreational panels to stimulate cognitive development. Additional features in the park at Antonio Gálvez will support active play and teamwork, accommodating up to forty young users aged six to fourteen years.
