The Club Buceo Torrevieja is organising the XI International Cleanup of Marine Environments and Beaches, scheduled for Saturday, the twentieth of September, at ten in the morning. The event will take place at Cala de la Higuera, directly in front of Karaoke Supersol. Since its establishment in two thousand and thirteen, the Marine Guardians Network has been actively combating the severe environmental challenge posed by marine litter. Over the years, the volunteer-driven initiative has successfully removed hundreds of tonnes of waste from marine habitats, with more than two thousand divers and volunteers participating on land.

This year marks the seventh consecutive occasion in which the initiative will exchange the weight of waste collected for food donations, which will be given to the Spanish Federation of Food Banks. This merging of environmental activism and social responsibility highlights the significance of community efforts in addressing pollution.

The Marine Guardians Network has extended its reach beyond borders, engaging in projects across Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, and Cape Verde. This global community of conscientious divers contributes valuable data for studies aimed at reducing marine waste and its impacts on marine biodiversity. Participating organisations include LIBERA, SEO Bird Life, Ecoembes, Dr. Tree, Oceánidas, and Reduce Zero.
