The National Police have detained a fifty-one-year-old man at Alicante-Elche Airport under a European Arrest Warrant issued by Italian authorities for drug trafficking. The arrest occurred as he attempted to board a flight to Morocco. The warrant had been in effect since April twenty twenty-four.

The request for the man’s arrest originated from Italian judicial authorities, which sought his extradition due to narcotic offences committed in Legnago in two thousand six. Investigations revealed that he was involved in the sale of cocaine and hashish, with potential penalties of up to eight years in prison.

After his arrest, and following the appropriate police proceedings, the suspect was transferred to Madrid. He is currently in the custody of the Central Criminal Court of the National Court, which is responsible for processing his extradition to Italy.
