The Local Government Board of Torrevieja has approved Subproject Nine, which focuses on the integration of the port and city between Acequión and the Dique de Levante. This initiative is a critical part of the urbanisation works involving the port and surrounding areas. The budget for these works is set at three million nine hundred and twenty-nine thousand four hundred and one euros, with an expected duration of approximately eight months, allowing for potential completion by early summer twenty twenty-six.

Federico Alarcón, the secretary councillor of the Local Government Board, confirmed that this is the last project pending approval within the designated area of the port’s infill, with only the supply and installation of the Hippie huts remaining. This contract will also be put out to tender by the council in the near future.

The approved works will enhance access to the port from Hombre del Mar to the Dique de Levante, connecting to the walkway leading to the Leisure Centre. Alarcón indicated that these developments, along with previously approved projects such as primary and secondary electrification of the port, the quay edge, the Dique de Levante, and the cantilevered walkway, will unify urban furniture, lighting, landscape integration, and ornamentation in the area.

Furthermore, the Local Government Board approved a two-year extension for the contract regarding the organisation of the Epiphany Parade with the company Baluarte, at an annual cost of two hundred and thirty-seven thousand two hundred and fifty-eight euros, which will be effective until the parade of twenty twenty-seven. In related news, councillor Alarcón highlighted ongoing efforts to manage bird populations in various locations around the city, mentioning Tarsilo Control de Plagas as the likely future contractor following the withdrawal of the previous service provider.
