In Torrevieja, a forty-seven-year-old man has been arrested by the Guardia Civil for attempting to steal from a pub while it was closed. This incident took place in the early hours of the twenty-fourth of August when security personnel at the establishment detained him after he had forced entry. Officers found that the pub’s daily takings, amounting to eight hundred and ten euros, were missing and subsequently recovered from the suspect’s pocket during a search.

The authorities were alerted while conducting a citizen security operation, leading them to the scene where the individual was being held. Upon arrival, officers identified the man, who had a previous record of crimes against property. He was taken into custody at the scene after confirming he had broken into the pub by forcing one of the access doors.

During transportation to the police station, the suspect exhibited aggressive behaviour, causing damage to the police vehicle. His volatile nature continued after being placed in a cell, resulting in further damage to the facilities. He faces charges for robbery with force, as well as two counts of causing damage. Following the investigation, he was released under precautionary measures by the local court.

As part of the Plan Comercio Seguro, the Guardia Civil emphasises the importance of waiting for police arrival during incidents in establishments. They advise not to enter until authorities are present, avoid handling items touched by the suspect to preserve evidence, and to provide law enforcement with as much information as possible about the event and the alleged perpetrator.
